Sunday, January 17, I celebrated my 56th birthday and on this day the Feast of San Sebastian begins in Diriamba, Nicaragua. During the feast, the satirical drama, The Güegüense or the Dance of the Macho Raton will be performed.
In honor of my birthday and this most important celebration, I am giving away 10 copies of the ebook The Shenanigans of the Güegüense or Las picardías del Güegüense a folk tale from Nicaragua based on the street theatre, El Guenguense o la Danza Del Macho Raton during the week of the Festivals.
This story has been recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity for it depicts the plight of the natives after the Spaniards arrived. It is very important that we keep the cultural folktales of our native countries alive and help our children and grandchildren to know and understand these traditional tales. When El Güegüense o la Danza del Macho Raton was selected for this honor by UNESCO, it was stated,
“Despite its popularity, El Güegüense is in danger of declining, and possibly disappearing, owing to several factors: the country’s severe economic crises, insufficient national and local support for performers… In addition, many of those who are very active in transmitting their knowledge to future generations are already between 60 and 70 years of age.”
Indeed, the Güegüense has been compared to Shakespeare’s Falstaff from Henry IV and plays an important part in the history of Latinos everywhere, as it depicts the literary talents of the natives who lived here and their ability to use many different literary styles to depict a historical clash of two cultures that eventually learned to peacefully coexist. Certainly, there are many lessons to be learned from this tale and the beauty of preserving the art of our ancestors is one that all of us should be committing to.
If you would like to be in a drawing for this most beautiful work of art, please send me a PM and let me know if you are interested in the English or the Spanish version of the tale, both of which are available on Amazon as ebooks.

Celebrating Your Successes
Just as it is important to chart your course, it is also important to celebrate your successes with high fives, cake, green tea, chocolate, or a perfect chai latte. Un pan y cafecito does not hurt either. It is all about what makes you feel good and how you pamper yourself. Make sure you recognize your mini-manifestations*, recognize your bonos**, and always, always, always count your blessings. Listen to your divine self as she tells you every morning or every evening that you are the most AWESOME being who walks the earth today, that your life matters to many, and that you do make a difference with your presence…daily. The daily message feels like a hug…just for you from you…making you smile, in spite of yourself, because you recognize the truth in the statements.
Your chosen journey should fill you with AWE, love of self, moments of glory, and remarkable energy. Your heart should be so full of love and joy that it is bursting at the seams, and your spirit should be dancing to your heartsong. This journey should set your soul on fire. So light a candle, make a wish, and dream soooo big, it scares you with the possibilities.
Con un pan y cafecito,
*Mini-Manifestations: this is when you manifest something small, like a parking spot, the perfect dress for an event, the perfect pair of earrings to match the dress you just bought, or the perfect place to meet a friend.
**Bono: Bonos are “bonuses or prizes” that you give yourself, in what could otherwise be a not so good situation. For example, when you are stuck in traffic and think…”Bono” time, I can call my sister. When your spouse is late, “Bono time, I can catch up on FB.” When you are waiting for a reservation, “Bono time, I get to window shop.” Bono time is the art of vibrating positive energy all the time, no matter what, so you find the silver lining in every cloud.
Charting Your Course to Success
Your path is your path and all that happens, happens for a reason, but not a random reason, but the RIGHT reason and it will all be revealed to you in due time. In the meantime, chart your course to success and make it a winding road of fun and adventure. If it is a tumultuous road where you feel you are slogging through and paying your dues, chart a different path. Any path that leads you to abundance, should be filled with fun, laughter, friends, and good times. Do not settle for anything less.
To get you feeling like you are truly living the life of your dreams, start creating the life of your dreams. Give thanks for all of your current blessings and future blessings. Give thanks for all the abundance you have already received and bask in the knowledge that you are truly AMAZING and DESERVING of all the goodness coming your way. And REMEMBER to have FUN.
Reflect on the following to help ground you in what matters most, to you, your soul, your spirit, and your heart:
- What successes to date can you celebrate?
- What have you manifested so far in your life that you are proud of?
- What would make you feel like you are living in total abundance?

Reflecting on 2014
As I reflect on 2014, I am awed by that has happened this past year and what is come in the next year. I am living in awe and gratitude for all of the beauty that surrounds me and how life is as it should be. I am blessed beyond measure and I am forever grateful for all of you that grace my life.
in 2015 I shall become a grandmother. In 2014, at a New Year’s eve party, my vision board had children, babies to be exact as I was expecting that soon I would be a grandmother. Who knew it would happen before the end of the year? Who knew my daughter would be expecting as we ring in the new year? Yes, the world does work in mysterious ways, but overall, there is a plan and we are co-creating our plan with unseen forces in the Universe.
In March I attended Mike Dooley’s trainer of trainers in San Diego and met some awesome people. It was such an inspiration and I came back and started working on my Millionaire DIVAS program. The program has been an absolute success and I am sooo grateful for the inspiration that came from all of the IPPIES. They are an awesome group of Infinite Possibilities trainers who love, support, and send so much love and light to each other. We keep us going and we keep each other sane we keep each other motivated. I have learned so much from these gals and I am so proud of being a part of their lives.
As part of Millionaire DIVAS, I have also started selling Mary Kay and Dove Chocolate. I am a true believer in relational marketing and I love how these programs help individuals to earn a living, earn a vacation, save for a college education, or just have a few extra dollars. I also love how they help those who have been marginalized in our society get out of the shadows and into the mainstream. I am true believer that we are all here for a reason and we have something to offer and no one should be made to live in the shadows of humanity and I will do my bit to help all of us connect and live in love and light.
Stay tuned for more information on how you can call abundance into your life and how you can truly make 2015 your year to live, love, shine, and get the life you love and deserve.

Who are you touching with your life’s magic today? Who is going to feel the power of your love? Who is going to be uplifted by all that you have to offer?
As you discover your purpose and learn to live the law of attraction as a lifestyle choice, you will find that you naturally engage in random acts of kindness, give back, pay it forward, and support those you love, those you have not even met, those who need your light just for the giving.
So go ahead and start today by touching someone with your magic. The rewards are endless. Miracles happen everyday!!!Con un pan y cafecito, Seguimos adelante, Zulmara Maria
So you have decided you want to try meditation but your mind is constantly wandering and you can’t figure out how to get it back. I have learned 3 things as a wandering mind meditator who now craves meditative time:
- It is ok to let your mind wander, that is the inner tension, the inner chatter that needs to be released, listen to it, embrace it, and then let it go ( or not, sometimes, the chatter just needs to be heard).
- Use a mantra when you want to bring your mind back–I used, “I am safe, I am loved” and I would try to repeat it 10 times before the chatter started again. I am safe as I breathe in and I am loved as I breath out.
- As you get used to breathing, use a breathing guide to keep you centered…I like the following 9 guides, they keep me centered on my big picture goals and what I want to attract into my life in terms of health, abundance, and relationships.
For health, I repeat:
- Breath in life, breath out toxins
- Breath in energy, breath out sluggishness
- Breath in health, breath out sickness
For abundance, I repeat:
- Breath in light, breath out dark
- Breath in harmony, breath out disharmony
- Breath in success, breath out failure
For relationships, I repeat:
- Breath in abundance, breath out scarcity
- Breath in love, breath out angst
- Breath in peace, breath out chaos
Try repeating one, two or three of these as you meditate and start with a count of 10, I guarantee you will be surprised at how hard it is to get to 10 before your mind wanders, just acknowledge the wandering and start counting at one again. Do this enough times and you will get to 10. ONce you get to 10, add another phrase. It can be one of the ones I have shared above, or one that you make up. Just remember, breath in/breath out–breath in/breath out–breath in/breath out. And watch your manifestations go into overdrive.
I will admit it did not happen overnight, but letting your mind wander is how you learn how to eventually quiet your mind. The chatter is not bad, just letting you know that you need to let it run its course and then you will be ready for the powers of meditation to take hold.Con un pan y cafecito Seguimos adelante Zulmara Maria
Jorge and I connected when he was helping Alain plan a Sol Event back in November of 2010. I had been very active on the Sol Page and I had a blog which listed some of my presentations, and Jorge sent me an email asking if I would be interested in attending and presenting at the next Sol Event.
I was unsure at first if what I had to offer was what they were looking for, but they convinced me that it was and would not take, “No” for an answer. I went, the event was a huge success and Jorge and I become fast friends and supporters of each others business endeavors. We realized we were on the same wavelength and we were excited for the opportunity to work with each other.
A few months later, when Jorge started his Success Coaching Mastermind group, I quickly signed up. I had been impressed with what I saw Jorge doing and how he reached out to Latino youth, being not only a mentor, but a guide. I was also impressed that he had left a secure job to pursue his passion and follow his dream. He is truly an inspiration to me and I have thoroughly enjoyed, both our personal and professional relationship. I have learned a lot from Jorge and I am honored to count him among my friends and colleagues.

I met Ana Lydia online through FB comments. I had just started blogging and I was doing some Lifestyle blogging, but not on clothes and make-up and beauty and health, but more on self-help and reflections, and journaling, and pampering your muse—and we connected.
She invited me to be a part of the group and she added me to the FB page and thus we became friends. I had not met her before, but she also attended the Mujer Adelante Conference and after that, she and I connected through the Count Me In Meet Up group online. I was trying to start something with the AMAZING Latinas in the área, and she already had this group going, and so we decided to have a phone conversation.
And, it was enlightening and very helpful to me. I had jsut moved to Long Beach adn was just getting started with networking and meeting Latinas in teh área and Ana was a wealth of inforamtion. I also found her motivated, inspiring, and ready to lead her organization to greatness.
She is the founder of Latina Lifestyle Bloggers and I have followed them since the beginning of time, well my time as a blogger. I am very impressed with her group and with what they have accomplished. Ana has a visión for professsionalizing blogging and bloggers and her advice is spot on. Her tips are invaluable and many people take them to heart. She is the ultimat profesional and has the wherewithall to share with others what she has learned about how to conduct yourself online.
She is now planning her 4th Lifestyle Conference in Los Angeles for March 2014. It has become a go to event for Lifestyle bloggers all over the country and many make the trek to Los Angeles for this very special event. I have not had the pleasure of attending yet, but it is on my Bucket List.
Ana Lydia, gracias, mi amiga por tu energía y visión, you have been an inspiration to me.
