Resolving to be ME!!!
The Possibilities are Infinite
I want to wish each and everyone of you a Prosperous New Year and help you to declare this as your year. Just say to yourself and anyone who will listen, “It is my time and 2015 will be my year.”
My year to:
- Achieve my dreams
- Learn and reflect
- Give and receive
- Live in abundance
- Enjoy great health
- Give thanks and receive gratitude
- Love and be loved
- Live my passion
- Realize my potential
Say it is so and it will be. I love making New Year’s Resolutions…resolutions that are broad and general and help me to be the person that I wish to be. I love thinking of the promises offered by the coming year and the potential that each day possesses. I am truly blessed to live in this country at this time in its history…and I know that I am here for a reason…a reason that is being revealed to be on a daily regular basis. Yes, life is AWESOME and I am sooooo glad to be alive at this point in time, having the dreams that I have, the friends that inspire me, and the loves that make it all possible. Yes, life is good and 2015 is my year to love and shine!!!

Opportunities Along the Journey
Contemplating 2014 is both exciting and exhilarating for me. I have much I want to accomplish and much I want to do in the new year. I am ready for 2014 and ready for it to be MY YEAR once again. (You see, I don’t believe we only get one year.) I have a few things on my “todo” list of what I want to accomplish and I am excited about the opportunities the new year will hold.
On my list for 2014:
- Help make the RiseUp Leadership Series a success and take the show on the road
- Send out Daily Divinity Quotes to my list
- Do an audio program for “Reclaiming Your Divinity”
- Schedule and complete more “Reclaiming Your Divinity” Workshops
- Create an ecourse for “Reclaiming Your Divinity”
- Continue to focus on gratitude as a way of shifting perspective…make Latina Gratitude Day very special
- Write curriculum for the Women’s Network University
- Start work on my second ebook: Pampering Your Muse
- Complete my novels and get them ready for publication
- Present at various conferences and events
- Launch the Latina Millionaire Club
- Have fun and enjoy the moments!!!
What I will actually accomplish will be a pleasant surprise for what the universe holds for me, you see, I know, Control is an Illusion, and we do not control in the sense of everything we do, but we have to have dreams, intentions, and goals so we know we are heading in the right direction. I know that as long as I am having FUN, I am doing great.
And for all of you who have been with me for this journey, I’d like to offer you my poetry book, Control is an Illusion for FREE today, on New Year’s DAY!!! Just click here and for your FREE download of this guided poetry book valued at $19.99: Password: MYEAR2014

The Latina Mastermind Group
This is a private group of Latinas who are all in the process of starting growing businesses, so I will not mention them by name.
Many of us attended the Adelante Mujer Coca-Cola conference and then went to the Pitch Parties for Count me In. From that interaction, we got to know each other and one of the members, set up this Mastermind group. I was so honored to be asked to be a part of it and to participate in it.
We have met sporadically for two years and we support each other endeavors, events, and causes. We are there for each other to offer advice and to be a catalyst for change, support, and love. We are comadres y madrinas, who count on each other.
The group is small, but powerful and we have truly been blessed to have each other to share the journey with. We not only support each other businesses, but we enhance each others lives. Many of my Mastermind Latinas have contributed to my Gratitude Journal: Transformando tu vida con la gracias, check it out.
Mujeres, you know who you are, mil gracias por tu presencia en mi vida.

I first met Gina Linn at a Count Me In Pitch Party. We were both at the Coca-Cola Adelante Mujer event in Los Angeles, but we did not see each other among the 300 Latinas in attendance. However, at a small pitch party in Malibu, I sat at a window seat looking at the ocean and started talking to Gina Linn and it was “DESTINY” at first conversation.
We connected right away, we were professional soul mates who had found each other and we were both on the same mission and we were both pitching our ideas for making the world a little kinder and gentler for Latin@s.
We have become fast friends and I count Gina Linn as one of the master networkers in Los Angeles. She knows everyone and she connects people who need to be connected. She has no ego in this dog eat dog world and she just wants to see everyone succeed. Eres nuestra “madrina.”
She is the founder of Get Wise Latinas and UpLatino, both of which she was revising and developing as we were pitching, both of which have become GO TO organizations for Latinos in Los Angeles. If someone wants a speaker, want to host an event, wants to find a group to network with or a cause to support, then Gina Linn is the go to person.
And as if that was not enough, Gina Linn is also Dra. Love, a life coach, who helps individuals get to the next step on their journey.
And of course, this is not a solo journey, we are all a part of Get Wise Latinas and the inspiring and motivating women I have met there have made a tremendous difference in my life.
Mil gracias, mi amiga, eres maravillosa.

Olivia Rios and the National Latina Business Women’s Association-Los Angeles
This organization is all about helping Latina Entrepreneurs launch and be successful at their businesses. I am giving a special shout-out to Olivia Rios because she has been incredible at planning successful events, getting people there and networking with a passion. As the Associate Director, she epitomizes what the organization is about as she helps each and every one of us develop our business and professional skills. She has vision for the organization and has worked tirelessly to bring first rate events to Los Angeles, that are a mixture of education, business, and pleasure.
NLWBA-LA was created and launched in July of 2003 to meet the needs of the growing ranks of Latina Entrepreneurs, Executives and Professionals from the Greater Los Angeles area. They hold social and networking events, educational classes and workshops, and offer support to the individuals involved.
Each year they recognize Latina Entrepreneurs who have done outstanding work in the field and they have become very inclusive of men as well. If you are a Latina starting or nurturing your own business, this is an exciting group to be a part of.

Armando and I became fast friends when I answered a call on Facebook from Aaron. Aaron needed someone to interview quickly when his interviewee bailed on him. We had been communicating on FB, so I answered the call. We talked on the phone and Aaron decided his dad, founder of Latino Graduate, would be just the person to interview me.
I went to their studio and we had a great interview. I had my book, Chicken Soup for the Latino Soup, where I have a story, The Bear, and we talked about schools, writing, students, Latino success, and all things education. We quickly discovered we both had a passion for the same things and we started working together. We hosted an author’s fair at Jesse Torre’s bank, we held mixers, and we had planning meetings and book signings, and authors come and pitch their books and their passion for writing.
We had a lot of dinners spent discussing different ways of advancing Latinos in education and always with the idea that Latinos would do well when they read books about themselves and when they started to see themselves as successful.
Armando came into my journey at an interesting time. I was just beginning to network and going to various events with him and planning events with him allowed me to get the networking thing down. Those were good times in my early days of getting started and I still enjoy many wonderful relationships with people I met back then.
Latino Graduate is a great concept and great idea. Armando’s vision is to help Latinos navigate the higher education system so they can access financial aide and scholarships. He really believes that all students need an opportunity to succeed and if they do no make it, it should be a conscious decision, not a decision put on them because they did not know the rules or the game.
Mi amigo, gracias por todo que has hecho para mi y para los ninos latinos, eres muy amable.

Monica and I go way back, we are both authors in Chicken Soup for the Latino Soul, which automatically made us comadres, madrinas, and online friends. It is true for many of the authors and we used to have a Yahoo group to keep in touch, then many of us moved to Facebook and have stayed in touch.
Monica and I have touched each others lives in many different ways, including a Cajita de Amor that the group sent around to share fun stuff with each other. So, when I was ready to hire a web designer, I called Monica. The first time we talked on the phone, it was like we were sisters who chatted everyday. We talked for 2 hours and I knew she was the web designer for me. She gets me and I love that.
We had fun developing my site and we were on the same page in so many ways. She went above and beyond the call of duty on many occasions and I would recommend her to anyone who wants a website, branding, or a different look.
MGS Designz is dedicated to helping you grow your business and get noticed. They do marketing for print or online, in English or in Spanish, they really try to tailor your site to your needs and they want you to be happy with the results. Their client base is mostly referrals from happy customers who have good things to say about how we helped them with their marketing needs. I can truly say, I am a very happy customer and I have enjoyed working with Monica and her team to build my online presence.
Monica, eres como una hermana para mi, and one of these years, we have to get together face to face so I can try some of your home cooking.

Lorraine and I go back more than 8 years. We met on MySpace, oh so many years ago, before Facebook had really gotten started, where we would blog and communicate with each other in various different ways. Those days were fun, I had over 10,000 friends on MySpace and was one of the last to make the leap to FB. When I finally did leave MySpace, one of the first friends I had on FB, was Lorraine, we were fast friends back in the day and have remained so for so many years.
Lorraine came into my universe just as I was getting started and formulating this idea of an internet business. I still had no real plan, just “una cosquilla” to create something to express my creativity, to share my insights and my poems, to start blogging. I love writing and blogging came naturally to me, and I had some peeps, like Lorraine who were regular readers who inspired me to keep going, to formulate my ideas, and to learn new technologies.
Lorraine also featured my story, El oso from “Sopa de pollo para la Alma Latina” on a TV spot that she did regularly, for which I was forever grateful. She gave fully of herself asking for nothing in return. She has been a great friend and I had the pleasure of meeting and rooming with her at LATISM13, what a treat, what an honor, what a pleasure.
Lorraine is the editor in chief at Mamiverse. She is also the blogger at?? And she also keeps busy with ?? She is awesome at connecting Latinas everywhere and has been a force in our community of Latina bloggers for many years. I am honored to have her as my friend.
MI amiga, eres muy amable y soy muy afortunada que estas en mi vida.
